英语作文 篇1

Nowadays, a lot of recreational activities are available for people to release their stress of work or study。 Recreational activities have aroused a hot debate in society。 When it comes to recreational activities, people’s ideas are not cut from the same cloth。

Abundant recreational activities make people’s life more colorful and people can release their stress with amusement。 Also, participating in recreational activities helps promote our competence。 However, too much recreational activities will bring problems。 For instance, many young students are addicted to online games, which will generate bad effects on their studies and might lead bad consequences。

In my opinion, we should keep a balance between amusement and study or work。 Of course, we should join some recreational activities after study, but we need arrange our time properly。 Only in this way can recreational activities provide more benefits for us。

英语作文 篇4

My View on University Ranking

The past years have seen the huge development of higher education in China and in contemporary society, it becomes a trend for universities to be ranked according to certain standards each year.Meanwhile, an increasing number of people deem it rather convenient to acquire information about quality of some universities.Searching the Internet, people can notice several editions of ranks very year.

A number of individuals favor this ranking because of its advantages. To begin with, without these ranks, it is impossible for people to make a direct comparison between different colleges. In addition, it is this ranking that enables China to build up a system of assessing higher education and to enhance its overall development.Even so, others hold the opposite view that university ranking carries some doubts.First, ranking all universities means a great amount of time and human resources; however, the quality and authority is not as satisfactory as expected.Second, what worries many experts is that some colleges may focus too much eyesight on ranking itself, ignoring the needs of students.By and large, the advantage derived the annual university ranking far outweigh the disadvantages.

An effective ranking will bring colleges motivation, arouses their enthusiasm to strive, and helps China to enhance higher education. However, it is advisable for this ranking to be scientific, practical and impartial.

英语作文 篇5

Directions: For this part you are allowed thirty minutes to write a composition on the topic Should Euthanasia Be Legalized? You should write no less than 150 words and base your composition on the outline below:

1.有的人赞成实行安乐死

2.有的人反对安乐死合法化

3.我的看法。

范文:

Euthanasia, a quiet and easy death, or mercy killing as we call it recently has made the headlines frequently. Many people applaud it and argue that euthanasia should be legalized.

As is pointed out, to practise euthanasia can benefit both the patient and his family. To a terminally ill person who is suffering excruciating pains day and night or living like a vegetable, to be allowed to end his life painlessly is a good release. To his family it is also a big relief considering the financial and emotional drain on them that having to sustain his life entails. However, the legalization of euthanasia may also bring with it problems our society has not previously faced. Is it humane, for example, that a terminally ill patient is thus caused to feel guilty for remaining alive because he does not want to die? Is it wise that a patient is killed alive simply because of a mistaken terminal diagnosis? And is it possible that euthanasia could be taken advantage of for some ulterior or even criminal purposes?

Since the legalization of euthanasia will raise serious moral and social issues, the decision our society makes about euthanasia will undoubtedly have tremendous consequences in society.

gold medals not only belong to olympic athletes. lucky mooncake purchasers could be lucky enough to get their hands on one as well.

with the traditional mid-autumn festival drawing near, south china's renowned likoufu restaurant based in guangzhou will make 32 gold medals, which mooncake purchasers will try to win in a lucky draw. the chinese olympic delegation obtained 32 golds at the athens olympic games last month.

even some movie stars have been involved in the promotion of mooncakes, which are traditionally eaten on mid-autumn day, which falls on september 28 this year.

various brands of mooncake are already on sale, but some people are complaining that the seasonal delicacies are too expensive this year.

"the mooncakes have already become gifts for exchange but some brands are expensive," said zhu ji, a beijing resident.

she said that some mooncakes cost as much as 1,500 yuan (us$180) each, a sum equal to one third of her monthly salary.

some brands of mooncake cost about 20-30 yuan (us$2.4-3.6). but the cost of accompanying items included in the mooncake boxes will be several dozens of times higher.

zhu said her husband and son do not like to eat mooncakes, a sweet pastry with a round shape symbolizing union."but my 88-year-old grandmother likes them and i will buy some for her this time every year."

some shoppers are choosing to purchase their mooncakes online.

ebay each-net.com, one of the country's leading e-business platforms, said about 500 mooncake deals were successfully made each week, about 60 per cent higher than last year.

"mooncake sales are extraordinarily hot this year and it has become one of our business highlights these days," said tang lei, public relations manager at ebay eachnet.

overseas chinese also observe the traditional festival and their relatives at home often mail mooncakes to them.

the postal authorities required parcel senders to become aware of food export regulations about the countries where their relatives live.

beijing capital international airport also remind passengers not to take mooncake boxes containing bottles of alcohol on flights.

many passengers are taking mooncakes on board with them as gifts for friends and family. at least four or five brands of mooncake gift boxes also contain bottles of liquor, said airport authorities.

according to aviation security rules, passengers are forbidden from taking any alcohol onto planes. violators will have to either leave their mooncakes behind or, if time permits, send them through luggage consignment.

英语作文 篇7

she was taking a morning shower. the warm spray from the showerhead danced on her hair and foamed down her body. steam came up and soon the bathroom was foggy. she closed her eyes, feeling the foams covering her body with thousand of kisses. in the sunbeams that streamed in through the only window, water drops glittered like morning dews. a cool wind rushed in. she looked out the window. some leaves were falling. "it must be autumn!" she murmured to herself. she stood motionless. there was no sound ecept that of water gurgling down the drain.
